Stop Being A Waiter
“What if I get rejected?” “What if she doesn’t reply back?” “What if they don’t like the idea?” This is poison as the worst case scenarios fill our minds and we end up being unproductive. So here’s my tip. It’s ALWAYS our turn to act. Try not to imagine yourself playing one game of chess, but you’re surrounded by eight chess boards all around you. You’re going up against 8 grand chessmasters. What do you do? Make your move, go to the next, make your move, go to the next. Give each game a little push and keep looking forward to tackling the next one.
Sitting and waiting is just a major waste of time. Your time. You can’t control how people will respond. Hit send and move on. Don’t wait for the world to get back to you. You can apply this to other situations in your life. Waiting at the grocery store, airport, or DMV? Call your family. Make appointments. Read articles. Answer emails. It’s always your turn to act. Don’t wait for your opponent. I encourage you to find priorities in your life that require action and simply act upon it. Don’t know which one to tackle first? Figure out what in your life requires attention from you immediately and start from there. I believe in you. Keep looking for more chessboards to make your move in.
